Well, I pulled down 3.8.0, and I was greatly saddened. No trace of my
original spec appears to exist any longer; what was clean, concise,
and correct now seems half-assed, haphazard and haggard. To make
matters worse, it no longer builds as non-root, making it unsuitable
for inclusion into the caos package repository.
I'm hoping someone will be willing to step up and help address these
(and other) issues with present-day SI packaging, but given the sheer
quantity and mass of just what I've seen so far, I don't foresee being
able to address them myself any time soon. My $DAY_JOB and other cAos
duties must take priority.
At the risk of pointing out the obvious, we do have some other cluster
management solutions of extremely high quality already available in
cAos in the "cluster" package group that might be worth evaluating. I
realize that some folks may not be able to consider other solutions,
but I'd much rather end an e-mail on a positive note than a negative
one. :-]
